The land does not belong to us... we belong to the land.

Celtica is the name of a sacred place that will live on a historical property, located in New Paltz, NY, and is an environmentally focused project with 501[c][3] status with the goal of cleaning up the Wallkill River and supporting the local community to do the same.

• Pollution in the 800-square-mile Wallkill watershed – recently classified as an “impaired water body” by the Department of Environmental Conservation – remains a concern since the peak algal blooms of 2015-16.
• Ninety percent of water samples collected from the Wallkill and its tributaries since 2012 failed to meet US Environmental Protection Agency criteria for safe swimming.
• Major health hazards include fecal bacteria traceable to humans and Canada geese and toxic cyanobacteria created by algae.
• The main culprit behind the algal blooms is elevated levels of phosphorus from soil runoff, aging sewage plants and home septic systems.

Although recently a milestone was achieved at the Wallkill River Summit, where the Department of Environmental Conservation announced it would develop a clean water plan to reduce excess nutrients from the waste water treatment plans, there is still much that needs to be done to expedite the cleanup and to reduce the risk of harmful algal blooms that has been affecting all life both in and around the river.

We are driven to work with the Riverkeeper, the Wallkill River Watershed Alliance and the community to expedite the cleanup that will benefit all living things that live along the 800 mile waterfront, from New York to New Jersey, including the Hudson River, where the Wallkill ultimately discharges.

We believe it is our duty to leave the land better than how we found it, and have found that people need to be taught how to do this. By donating to Celtica, you not only allow us to dramatically affect the environment, but to teach people how to do the same.
